It seems weird to say it, but there are actually riders out there who spend their whole life on non-customized bikes. Riders who are perfectly happy using a factory-prepared bike in exactly the same state that it left the maker’s premises. Stock pipes. Stock rubber. Hell, even the air in the tires probably has the whiff of aftershave from the factory worker who inflated them. Yes – such people do exist. The owner of this bike, was actually one of them. But through luck or through fate, he stumbled across the rather bitchin’ custom work of us from Studio Motor and the rest, as they say, is historia.
When our customer bought his new Triumph Bonneville T100 with its standard look, he still hadn’t really twigged to bike customization. But at the time he was impressed with our Triumph Thruxton built, so then he contacted us to completely change the look of his bike. He wanted us to build a Scrambler-looking bike, but with some retro touches at the same time. The first step was to changed the original rims with TK Japan 19X2.50 inch and 18X4.00 inch and wrapped with Metzeler Karoo 3 tires 110/90-18 and 150/70-18 for front and rear. The tall 43 mm telescopic front forks and modern alloy swing arm didn’t quite have the retro look suited to a classic Scrambler, but the rest of the bike showed potential. We only change an original rear shock with 360 mm Ohlins Progressive Shock. To replace the original bodywork we made a new front fender, rear fender, side cover and new placemat seat used 1.2 mm galvanized plate. Its unique shape was designed to hug the flowing lines of the stock main frame perfectly. Finished in metallic, gray with black and gold liines at the side it’s more suited to the bike. The stock bars replaced by Bitwell handlebar. For a more scrambler look the stock exhaust was replaced with a custom 2 in 2 stainless steel header and underslung, vintage style reverse megaphone muffler.
Do you know of a rider who has yet to appreciate the sublime beauty of riding a bike that is the only one of it’s kind in the world? You do? Then save them. Save them today. Do it for this owner. Do it for Studio Motor. But most of all, do it for us. God Bless.
